tesla race

Tesla Model S P85D, the world’s fastest four-door sedan up against a Holden Commodore V8 Supercar and the Walkinshaw Performance W507 HSV GTS.

A Tesla Model S P85D, a  Walkinshaw Performance W507 HSV GTS and a Holden Commodore V8 Supercar drive on to a racetrack. While that sounds like a start of a joke. It is no laughing matter. TheTesla Model S P85D is super fast. So fast in fact that it can take on cars that cost way more than it that are designed for winning races. The folks from CarAdvice.com.au setup drag races between some impressive cars. The site just posted a YouTube showing just how fast the Tesla is. It also answers the question How Insane is the Tesla Model S Insane Mode?

The Tesla handles the Walkinshaw quite easily but the Holden V8 Supercar promises to be a more intriguing match. The Model S P85D goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.3 seconds. The Holden Commodore V8 Supercar weighs just 3,086 pounds. That is incredibly light for a vehicle. It also sports a 5.0 liter fuel injected V8. Holden Racing Team developed cylinder heads, fuel injection, intake and exhaust system. A MoTec engine management control system but none of that helped. The Tesla Model S P85D still beats the Holden but should the race been longer, it would not have been possible.  Check out CarAdvice’s full video of the race below.
