pandora

Technology

Pandora just became more commute friendly for people who have Apple Watches. The music streaming service recently updated their iOS app and added offline playback. This was as a result of a lot of people asking for it. The downside about this is that it’s only available to paying customers. Meaning, you have to be a Pandora Plus or Premium subscriber in order to be able to enjoy offline content. In addition, you will have to update your Watch to watchOS 5 in order to be able to install this particular update.

NCAA Football: Georgia quarterback Justin Fields will transfer to Ohio State. Fields made the announcement on Twitter, Friday night:

“My time at the University of Georgia has given me the opportunity to refine my skills under great coaches and to play with incredibly talented teammates who’ve become like brothers to me. I appreciate what Coach [Kirby] Smart and the UGA football coaching staff have done to help me progress as a quarterback and for their patience and understanding while I thoughtfully considered my future as a student-athlete. I’ve decided to transfer to Ohio State University where I will continue to pursue my undergraduate degree and play football for the Buckeyes. I’ll miss my teammates more than they’ll ever know, and I wish them all the best as they get ready for another great season. I hope the bonds we’ve developed this past year will never be broken by where we choose to play football or where we end up after college.”

Mitt Romney

Politics

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel connected with President Donald Trump by phone this week, where she shared some alarming news.  McDaniel’s uncle, Mitt Romney was about to publish a scathing op-ed related to Trump.  McDaniel’s received a heads-up about this piece from Romney himself and was quite upset about it.  That evening, she wrote a tweet defending the president.  In the op-ed, Romney argues that Trump “has not risen to the mantle of the office.” And it immediately fueled suspicions among the president’s top aides that the incoming senator is up to something.

What does this mean for 2020?  There is some unease in the party towards Trump, but they’re not worried that someone like Romney could impose any kind of threat to Trump.

Music

YouTube is heading back to the California desert for Coachella.  This is their ninth year as the event’s exclusive live-streaming partner.  But for the first time, YouTube will present live content over both weekends of the music festival.  What does this mean for YouTube?  Subscribers will have received a code via email that gives them the opportunity to purchases passes from a dedicated YouTube Music member car. YouTube didn’t say how many passes were available though.

Other artists and acts slated for Coachella 2019 include Solange Knowles, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Billie Eilish, Ella Mai, H.E.R., Maggie Rogers, Christine and the Queens, Bad Bunny, the 1975, Weezer, Zedd, Diplo, and many more.

Entertainment

The latest season of True Detective is available, and they’ve changed things up a bit.  Of course, there is a new lead actor, but that is the norm.  What’s also normal is the fact that this season takes us back in time before bringing us to present day.  The premise of this season is that Detective Wayne Hays (played by Mahershala Ali), a police officer investigating the disappearance of two children in small-town Arkansas.  His performance is seemingly similar to Matthew McConaughey’s during the first season.

That said, this new season springs confidently from a very lengthy absence.  The last episode aired in August 2015.  And, if you’re like me, then you probably thought the show had been cancelled, but no – it has just been on an almost three-year long hiatus.
