No you are not having issues with your phone. It’s much much worse. If you are like most people living on Earth, you use Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram or a variation of them. Unfortunately for the planet it felt like the classic movie The Day the Earth Stood Still. To say the sites and accompanying apps were having issues would be an understatement. Pages loaded very slow some people were not able to upload pictures didn’t load at all. This was an issue across all of Facebook’s suite of properties.
Facebook hasn’t said as of this post what the issue is but the social networking giant did acknowledge there was an issue and that engineers are working hard to identify and rectify the root of the problem. That sounds well and good but what do you do until that time? Go to Twitter of course. Even Facebook had to do it.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps,” Facebook relayed via Twitter a short while ago. “We’re sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”Facebook
Interestingly enough the issue is not happening to everyone which is great for those that are watching by the fire eating s’mores but for the rest of us. It seems that these types of outages and loading problems are becoming a norm for Facebook. It reminds me of how Twitter use to have the Fail Whale up almost everyday. However Facebook is not the new kid on the block and should have this figured out. You have to wonder if the combination of a billion plus users is getting to much for one company to handle. Just this past March Facebook experienced a server problem that left users unable to access Facebook or Instagram for 12 hours. Here is to hoping its up and running in time to post those 4th of July selfies.
