That Apple vs Samsung case is not going away anytime soon. For one thing Apple still needs Samsung to provide lovely screens for its device. Samsung still needs Apple to buy these screen. How much information Samsung uses to make its own device is unclear but by the looks of their devices, a fair amount. However, Samsung has won a case and may collect damages from Apple. The court also ruled that the Apple and Samsung reach a compensatory deal.
A District Court in the Hague, Holland, has ruled that iPad, iPad 2, iPhones 3G, 3Gs, and 4 violate one of Samsung’s 3G patents. The patent is “EP1188269, which protects Apparatus for encoding a transport format combination indicator for a communications system.” This court does not play sides since it was the same court that shot down Samsung’s other patent claims. Samsung will still have to pay Apple for the two cases it lost. The fight is not going to be over for a long time.
