shareFACTORY

Sony showed of its first major update for the PlayStation 4. One of the best new features is something called SHAREfactory. It is a video editor similar to the Upload Studio that Xbox One users have. The Sony SHAREfactory however takes it one step further by adding ability to pre-download games that haven’t hit the PlayStation Store yet. PlayStation 4 sold 7 million units so it is not hurting for sales at the moment. That said, it is not close to matching Xbox One in terms of media features. Microsoft added the Twitch application as soon as possible after launch as it could. That was a feature that Playstation 4 had that Xbox One users wanted disparately. Now that they have it some gamers may feel the media grass is greener on the other side. The Upload Studio app is one of those things that the other side really wanted to have. Thanks to SHAREfactory they have that video editor and so much more. At anytime PS4 gamers can record, edit and share their gameplay footage with others.

With SHAREfactory, you can now easily combine your captured video clips for editing, personalize them with special effects using filters, transitions, and themes, as well as share them with your friends and social networks. SHAREfactory also allows you to personalize your videos by adding text, stickers, and a set of included audio tracks, as well as video commentary with picture-in-picture capability with PlayStation Camera. It also allows you to import your original music to add to the custom soundtrack for your video.

Sony takes things one step further by letting its PlayStation 4 gamers export their edited videos to an external Flash Drive. I would like to see gamers gain the ability to share these edits on social media such Twitter or Vine. The SHAREfactory is not the only perk that PS4 gamers can look forward to. PS4 users can look forward to pre-downloading. The upcoming 1.70 update lets anyone who per-orders a game on the PlayStation Store begin to download the game. That does not mean you can play the game but you can have it ready when on launch day. What should be interesting is to see how soon before this little feature exploited by the hacker community. The update is coming out soon but in the meantime check out SHAREfactory in action below.
