Starz-Power

Let us for a moment forget that 50 Cent is executive producing this show. Let us forget that the show is on Starz. The show is well-paced with very good writing. The actors are well casted for their roles and deliver impeccable lines. They feed well off each other. The chemistry does not seem forced between the lead actors and the ensemble cast. The new drama series from executive producer Curtis Jackson also known as 50 Cent is more than what you expect. Creator Courtney Kemp Agboh tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a wealthy New York City nightclub owner who caters to the city’s elite. However, the club is a front a way to move the dirty money made from drug trafficking. Ghost is played by ex football player Omari Hardwick.

James “Ghost” St. Patrick wants to build an empire that is not tainted. When he is not in the club, Ghost is not in the club he is an underground drug kingpin doing business with a Mexican cartel. The lucrative drug network hit a snag when the drop was stolen. Ghost does not know who took the money. However the distribution is enough give the Mexican drug lord pause with doing businesses with Ghost.

The plot thickens and becomes more than just a clone of the HBO classic The Wire since Ghost must also deal with having a family life. His marriage is on shaky ground as an ex girlfriend comes to town that happens to work for a task force investigating Lobos. As much as Ghost wants to leave his criminal life behind and become the model businessman it just does not seem possible. You can catch the first episode of Power for free on YouTube or Starz.com. Keep in mind that YouTube is age-restricted.
