iPhone 5s vs. iPhone 5

iPhone 5s vs. iPhone 5

thinkdiff

Apple has not thought different in years. They announced the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. Not only did all the leaks already tell you in great detail what they will look like and how they will run but there was no excitement. Remember when you had no clue what Apple was going to do until they were ready? Remember when Apple was the innovator rather than an imitator of Android software? Remember a time when didn’t just blatantly steal tweaks from the jailbreak community Cydia and call it a new feature of “iOS (insert number here)?   Neither does Wall Street or soon to be ex Apple loyalist such as myself. iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c are meant to be successors to the iPhone 5, however, there is little innovation. It’s faster? Well, gee and what else? oh, fingerprint reader? umm. No, thanks. The 3 letter Gmen have enough information to work with already.

I know this sounds like a Android Fanboy writeup but however. I love Apple and it breaks my heart that hey are getting left in the wind. If they do not do something and do something fast they will become the Microsoft of the tech world. It is not too long ago that Microsoft was the Smartphone king with Windows Mobile. They didn’t innovate and Apple stepped in to change the game. You’re on notice  from the people who were once your supporter. The early adopters are no longer looking to you for future.… Read the rest

iOS 7: The Facts & how to get the new features right now in iOS 6

iOS 7: The Facts & how to get the new features right now in iOS 6

We knew it was coming. We knew it would be flat. What we did not know is that once again Apple would make a great OS even better. Just like Apple always does with new products; it does not just catch up to features that were missing it innovates them as only Apple can. I have not been an Apple fanboy for a while truth be told I got board with the OS. It seemed that the Android could do so much more because it was open source. Each I wanted a feature, I had to go Cydia to find a tweak. For the non tech savvy folks, I don’t know how they do it. All my iDevices have to be jailbroken. It is a necessity for adding features that Apple simply does not have the time to add into a OS until it needs a boost. This is the case with iOS 7. Apple has once again taken it’s upgrades and features from the jailbreak community. 90% of the features introduced today are available right this moment on Cydia if you have a jailbroken phone. The new features and or upgrades were for Control Center, AirDrop for iOS, and smarter multitasking. Now lets go through the updates.

Control Center. Some things should be only a swipe away. And now they are.

Control Center gives you quick access to the controls and apps. You can switch to Airplane mode, turn Wi-Fi on or off, adjust the brightness of your display or use flashlight.… Read the rest

Galaxy S IV may be the iPhone killer you have been waiting for

Galaxy S IV may be the iPhone killer you have been waiting for

GS4

The Samsung Galaxy S IV will be my next smartphone. As a long time iPhone user that is hard for me to say but Apple has not been innovative as of late. The new features they claim to have are ripped off hard working developers on Cydia.  Samsung continues to do new things with their phone that Apple has yet to even think about. The GS4 (Galaxy S IV) will have two very cool features when it comes out. The first is called “Smart Scroll,” which will allow users to scroll through screens on the device’s display automatically as their eyes near the bottom of the screen. Not sure how much battery this will take to work right. Just think if Siri was always on all the time. The other new feature which actually sounds cool is called “Smart Pause,” which pauses any multimedia playing on the device when the user’s head turns away.

GSM Israel was the first to published screenshots from the U.S. version of Samsung’s Galaxy S IV.  Samsung’s Galaxy S IV will be unveiled during a press conference next Thursday in Time Square New York City. The GS4 will have a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, an eight-core 1.8GHz processor, up to 64GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and Android Jelly Bean. I for one can not wait to get my hands on it.… Read the rest

Apple Releases iOS 6.1, Can a jailbreak be far behind?

Apple Releases iOS 6.1, Can a jailbreak be far behind?

iOS6.1 update

Apple has just released iOS 6.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. According to the release notes the main thing the update provides is LTE support for more carriers and giving Siri the power to make purchases. Siri can not buy movie tickets from Fandago if you live in the USA. If you have iTunes Match, you can now download individual songs from iCloud. You can download the update right now over the air. For the iPhone 5 the update is 107MB. If you don’t see it go to settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install. You can only download the update if you are on a wifi network. If you have Apple TV there is good news for you too. Apple TV now has Bluetooth keyboard support, Up Next, and makes better use of the iCloud service.

UPDATE: MuscleNerd has confirmed that it is safe to update to iOS 6.1. So jailbreakers can go and update to iOS 6.1. Sunday may be Fun Day!

Apple Stock down 21%

Apple Stock down 21%

Apple stock continues to go down. Even though the company has launched the fastest-selling smartphone in history. Apple made $8.2 billion in profit on $36 billion in sales. That however did not help, the company has lost more than $130 billion in market value. It closed under $600 for the first time in a while. The final at close was close was $558.  That is 21% down from September’s value.

Many people see the issue with Apple is that it is too successful. It keeps breaking records so Wall Street has come to expect nothing but the impossible. Wall Street sets up sky-high estimate. Apple continues to make Wall Street reevaluate its estimates for the company.  that hammer the company when it can’t meet them.

The company sold only sold 3 million iPads during the iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad’s opening weekend. While those are great numbers. Those numbers in the eyes Wall Street were not not good enough. If you have been watching Apple, one would have to agree. Apple is expected to sell 3 million iPads alone without out help of another product. Analysts Jeffrey Gundlach of DoubleLine Capital’s has sent shares of Apple down further when he went on CNBC and said Apple’s stock is headed to $425.
