We finally got to see today what the Viv is all about. What? You have not heard of the Viv? Well my friend imagine if you will Siri without the wall garden of Apple. An virtual assistant free to roam the internet and make friends with other services for your benefit. It’s basically Amazon’s Alexa but mobile. Viv is from the creators of Siri. Yep, why else would this app be getting so much attention. $12 million has been raised so far by Dag Kittlaus and company.
The first public demo of Viv showed why Viv in fact “the intelligent interface for everything.” There are no specifics on when we will be able to get our hands on or see Viv used on any products as of yet. Artificial intelligence bots seem to be all the rage with technology companies. Viv is stepping in at the just the right time to take advantage of the trend. If you take into account that Viv was first to really take the lead in the space specifically. They were the first with Siri which worked phenomenally before it got stripped down.
Well this was unexpected. Seems that Apple has started announcing events via Siri. Not sure if this was an easter egg or a sign of things to come. What we found from out from Siri is that Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) will be taking place on June 13th. At the time of the leak the Apple website had not been updated with any new info. Apple has since confirmed the following. Like previous years, WWDC will take place in San Francisco. The event will run from June 13th until June 17th. Tickets cost $1,599, you must obviously be a developer and remember tickets are offered at random among people who register for the event. Apple’s dedicated WWDC site is now live with more details and a strange poem about Apple’s products.
What can you expect from WWDC this year?
Apple will announce the future of its software. You will get an onstage demo of iOS 10. I’m calling it now, OSX will be rebranded macOS. If we are lucky will get new hardware as well. Maybe a Apple IIe with iMac insides to keep the trend of the iPhone SE going. However this is only a hope as WWDC is not normally the place where Apple shows off new hardware. Look for hardware such as the iPhone 7 in September.… Read the rest
Everyone loves the Cookie Monster. Now Apple has tapped into that with a brand new ad. The new iPhone 6s ad Titled “Timer” shows Cookie Monster using the iPhone 6s’ always-on “Hey Siri” feature which is similar to “Ok Google.” In the ad Cookie Monsters uses Siri to set the timer for the cookies he is baking. Cookie Monster timer set to 14 minutes which as anyone can tell you is a long time when you really want something. Cookie Monster becomes very impatient and thus starts using Siri to play music from his “waiting” playlist. The song that plays is Jim Croce’s “Time in a Bottle.” Well played Apple, well played.
As a heads up the hands-free “Hey Siri” feature only works on Apple’s iPhone 6s. This is due to the fact you need more powerful M9 motion coprocessor. You can get around this if you are jailbroken. There is has been a tweak in the Cydia store for years. Rumor has it that the upcoming iPhone SE will have the M9 chip so “Hey Siri” should work.
Apple is about to announce the iPhone6S, AppleTV, iPadPro, iPadmini, iOS9 9 and watchOS2. With all that, there is no room for “One More Thing.”
It is that time of year again where people have been holding on to their upgrades waiting to hear about the new Apple iPhone. That’s right Apple Fanboys & girls another Apple Experience the keynote. We will see a new iPhone but what is getting people really excited is that we will finally get an upgrade to Apple TV. Apple will beat Microsoft to adding voice to its system. Yes the Xbox has the Kinect but it is no Cortana. Siri in Apple TV could change the way we watch TV similarly to the way Apple changed the way we listen to music. This could be the biggest event ever. Apple is about to announce an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, Siri-powered Apple TV, iPad Pro and iPad Mini. We should also hear about new software iOS 9 as well as watchOS 2.
iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
This is the “S” of the iPhone. That means nothing will change on the outside. The new iPhone 6S is going to look exactly like the iPhone 6. However inside will have faster processor, better camera, a stronger case to protect from Bengate and the addition of Force Touch capabilities, and a stronger chassis. As a bonus we might even get a new colors for the iPhone.
Let’s just jump right into it.iOS 9 will be smaller than previous updates. iOS 9 comes in at just a 1.3GB install it. iOS 9 takes the wonderful Siri that is on the Apple Watch. The user interface is more clean and the response time is faster. Siri is proactive just like Google Now is. The way it does that is by offering suggestions for people who you might want to contact based on upcoming meetings as well as one-tap location suggestions. There is also an API for search so that you can get data from your favorite apps.

According to Apple the News app is “the best online reading experience.”

This is how a Siri vs. Cortana fight would be if they were real
It has been awhile since Arsenio Hall was relevant but he is back in case you missed it. The 90’s talk show host has brought the laughs since Coming to America. He had a very funny bit the other day that must be shared and go viral asap. Cortana vs. Siri is going to be a showdown of epic proportions. It will be the first battle between two real digital assistant. Google Now is in a field of its own.
Microsoft in the post Steve Ballmer era seems to be changing the face of the company one new product at a time. Office on iPad was more than well received by the press and end users alike. The return of the Windows button in 8.1 update is also a reversal that many are applauding. Cortana looks to keep the good vibes going. The digital assistant is a lot more like Apple’s Siri than Google Now with one big difference, Cortana works.
There is nothing more frustrating than asking Siri a question only for it to tell you that it can’t help you. Microsoft has released over 10 new videos about the digital assistant. The differences between Siri and Cortana is like night and day. Cortana is fast and 100% more accurate. Microsoft’s Cortana has a very interesting “personality” but if you are a Halo die hard fan you are going to be disappointed. Cortana does not look like or sound like the Halo AI. However, there are many Halo jokes planted in there. I hope Microsoft expands Cortana to other properties. I’m looking at you Xbox One.
