Kickstarter has kicked off its own app
In the why was this not already out section; . Kickstarter, the onlyt name that really everyone knows in the crowdfunding world has come to the iOS. Yes, It took forever for them to come out the app but it is well worth it. There have been other Kickstarter apps for the iPhone but none of them were official. You can browse through project videos and pledge to said projects if you see fit. The iOS app is actually a lot more user friendly than the website. If you are the creator of a project, you can track the progress of the funding and post updates.

Send to KindleSamsung says forget iPhone 5
Samsung knows that the iPhone 5 is going to be big. It knows there are going to be long lines and people sleeping overnight to get this thing. However Samsung wants tor remind you that “The next big thing is already here.” Even though I know on paper the Galaxy S III is a better phone; its not an iPhone. Nothing is an iPhone. Sure other phones already have 4G, bigger screens and some let you talk and go on the web at the same time but does it have iOS? Nope, That right there is the reason why most people who are in the tech world still get an Apple iPhone 5.
Samsung has a new commercial that goes right at Apple fanboys and girls. Samsung shows off the Galaxy S III while iPhone fans wait on a long line. They make fun of the relocated headphone jack and new dock adapter.

Send to KindleiPhone 5: Fact vs. Rumors
It is here again. What is it? The rat race to the store to but yet another Apple iPhone. Do we need a new one? Nope. Will you go out and buy one? Most likely if you are reading this tech heavy blog; you will. I know I am. I will be one of the iSheep to be up at 3AM EST/12AM PT to preorder it from the Apple website. This year, I skipped the hype and rumors. We have a very good track record on what we think will be on these iDevices. Here is the final rundown of what we at Saintel Daily think is Fact vs. Wishful Thinking.
FACT:
Not so much
Just for fun
Send to KindleNo Youtube on iPhone 5 & iOS 6
Apple is not trying to give Google any more money on anything. First it got rid of Google Maps. Now it has done away with Google’s YouTube app. Apple stated that their license to include YouTube in iOS had expired. It may sound like its like a big deal but it really is not. You can still use YouTube on the web and Google is in the process of making a standalone app as you read this. The new YouTube app that will be available in the App Store for free. Apple wanted the iOS experience to be just iOS and have nothing from Google on its new baby. I for one look forward to see what the new iOS YouTube app looks like. The old one though helpful was really not a great user experience.
If you do not update to iOS 6 you will be fine. Apple said that OS 5 devices will not have the app removed. Apple didn’t want to push out that only took away an app. Also it will only be a matter of time before the jailbreak community addresses this loss by a tweak to integrate the new Google YouTube app with iOS 6.
Apple’s statement word for word:
Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.
Update: Google now has its own YouTube app in the AppStore. The link is right here: YouTube App.
Send to KindleWWDC: Live (This is what happened)
Here is the update of what is going on at WWDC. Let’s see how many were correct in my prediction from this morning. Anything in green means I was right.
- Integration with Facebook like we with Twitter.
- Hardware, Hardware, hardware! New hardware redesign.
- iOS 6 new look metallic sliver just like the WWDC app.
- Mail VIP: Filter for your mail by people named in your VIP list.
- Siri for iPad with iOS6
- iCloud will do more and highly integrated with iOS 6.
- Facetime now works over cellular.
- GM, Ford, Toyota & Mercedes Benz all to get Siri by next year.
- Siri can now launch apps!
- Siri now plays nice with OpenTable and Yelp. No word on if Siri will have an open API. I doubt that it will
- MacBook Pro but as light as a MacAir. It has HDMI! You have USB 2/3, Thunderbolt, SD card slot. Cost of all that Super MacBook Pro goodness $2,199
- Built in turn-by-turn navigation!! Works from the lock screen and Siri too
- iOS 6 Beta comes out today. (If you are developer)
Send to KindleApple WWDC 2012: What to expect
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook told us to expect even more from this year. Well it’s 2012 and WWDC is here. The conference sold out in a day. Clearly people what to know what we can look forward to. We know that iOS 6 will be on full display. Surely there will be a hands on after the event but what about the new hardware. Will there be a new Macbook? How about the MacPro? We will see new hardware unlike previous WWDCs. I think WWDC this year will give a big chunk of time to hardware. Below are what I think will be discussed and what I’m pretty sure will not happen. The event starts at 10AM PT/1PM EST
What will happen
- Apple’s senior vice president of product marketing Phil Schiller will give the Apple keynotes not Tim Cook.
- Google Maps stays on iOS but you will have the option to use Apple’s.
What will not happen
- Automatic app updates: I don’ think this will happen nor should it happen. There are a number of apps whose updates only break a perfectly working app.
- Social Hub: like Microsoft’s People hub that will sync your phone contacts with social networks. There are apps that already do this but native is always better.
- iWallet: Apple is testing a Bluetooth version of a payment system rather than NFC. Leave it to Apple to go against the grain but I don’t see this happening this year.
- Live Widget: Windows Phone and Android already do this. The app runs in the background and just gives you the latest info. I know it can be done because they are already doing it with Weather and Stocks apps in the notification center. Also the jailbreak community has Dashboard X that has a host of widgets running on the iOS without any issues.
