Tonight is one of those nights where there is most definitely something good to watch on TV. I am not talking about that reality TV nonsense or even a great drama scripted show. Tonight CBS airs Songs in the Key of Life: An All-Star Grammy Salute. The event is not live but it has the feeling about it. Last week everyone who is anyone in popular music helped celebrate the wonderful works of the music wonder himself.  Music royalty as well as the new generation were there to sing some of his best work. The concert has performances from Beyoncé, Tony Bennett, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Pharrell Williams, and John Legend. Dare we say it, the tribute is better than the Grammys.

Stevland Hardaway was born on May 13, 1950 at later became known as Stevie Wonder. The singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist child phenom grew to become a one of the most talented artist of our times. His music has touched all ages in every decade since the 60’s to today. Stevie has been a signed artist since he was 11. He was one of the corner stones that helped Hitsville become Motown.

The stats:

  • Over 30 U.S. top ten hits
  • 25 Grammy Awards
  • sold over 100 million albums and singles
  • one of the top 60 best-selling music artists
  • United Nations Messenger of Peace.
  • Number five on Billboard magazine’s list of the Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists
