twitterWaze

Unless you live under a rock you have heard of Waze. Google brought them a few years ago. Instead of absorbing them into Google Maps, Google left them alone to flourish. Waze launched a traffic alerts program on the social network, called Unusual Traffic. Its pretty cool. This is big data and analytics working for the greater good your commute. The system compares your current trip times with historical data. If there’s a big difference the Waze Twitter account will send a tweet letting you know.

The company has set up over 50 different accounts that will be focusing on a specific metro area. The areas that are working at the moment Atlanta, London and Buenos Aires. There are a lot more on the way. If there’s more info to help your trip like say a faster route that information will also be included in the tweet.
