Snapchat is not happy just being the new hot place for the millennials to hang out. They have done a lot over the years to transform from a place for sexting to a place where companies and business can get a foot hold into the lives of the young crowd. The newest update brings a new feature called Memories. It’s pretty much what it sounds like, sort of. You can save Snaps and Stories in your own personal collection. Instead of using the Camera Roll in Apple’s default Photos app to save pictures by default; pictures and videos can be saved directly in the Snapchat app.

One of the biggest things about the update is that Snaps that you take can also be saved to Memories then re-used in your Story later one. So there is no confusion, Snaps used in Memories will have a special frame to let people know it’s not in the moment. Sadly, Snapchat says it will be rolling out Memories “selectively over the next month or so” so keep an eye out for the update in your app. You can search for Memories using keywords and Memories are backed up by Snapchat, not Apple.

It’s super easy to find the Snap or Story you’re looking for in just a few seconds by typing keywords like “dog” or “Hawaii” — that way you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying your Memories. We realized that Snapchatters want to feel comfortable showing their Memories to friends while they’re hanging out together, so we made it easy to move Snaps and Stories to My Eyes Only — and avoid awkward moments when a friend stumbles upon a Snap meant just for you.
