I am team Xbox ever since I jumped in the Xbox vs PlayStation back in the days of first Halo. That said in the words of Jay-Z “Men lie, Women lie, numbers don’t” and it’s clear Sony has the numbers to back up its fanboys trash talk. It is not like I didn’t see this coming. The PlayStation 4 flew past 40 million sales way back in May. Now in just a few short months it has sold 50 million PlayStation 4s. The most impressive thing to keep in mind is while other companies talk about numbers “shipped” to stores (Looking at you Microsoft) Sony’s represents sales to customers. It took the PlayStation 3 almost four and a half years to reach that milestone while it only took the PS4 a little over three years. It’s not just hardware that is working for Sony. They have also sold 369.6 million games. Put it another way for every one console sold they have sold seven games to go with it.
On the other hand Microsoft has sold about between 25-30 million Xbox Ones we think. We don’t know for you because they stopped reporting sales figures a long time ago. With Sony having close to a two-to-one sales lead, I wouldn’t want to keep reporting either. The war is over. Sony and PlayStation 4 won.
