Apple released their list of the top downloaded apps, games, TV shows, movies, and books over the last year. If you read any one of those posts, you will have noticed how surprised I was at some of the downloads in the list. In today’s posts, I am going to explore the same downloads, but this time, from Google. I am not going to waste time with those that are the same, but rather highlight the big differences. In this post, I am going to look at Games and Apps only. In my second post, I’ll bring you information about TV Shows, Books, Movies, and Songs.
Apps
I am surprised that some of the top apps are different between Apple and Google. But I guess this speaks to the who is using an Android device, versus those using Apple. Specifically, you will notice apps like YouTube and Instagram aren’t on this list.
FaceApp
FaceApp allows you to transform your face using Artificial Intelligence with just one tap. You can add your smile, look younger or older or even become more attractive. I think the idea of this is really unique, especially since it’s using artificial intelligence. I also like the idea that you can change your gender if you want to see what you might look like if you decided to make that change. You can also improve your selfie with some pretty cool style filters. I’m not surprised that this made the list.
What The Forecast?!!
What I like about this app is that it explains exactly what the weather is like outside – in real terms. You never have to worry about whether or not you have to go back to bed. As far as features go:
- Over 6657 completely obnoxious phrases describing the current weather conditions.
- Profanity settings (On, Some, Off) – this is my favorite option of all time.
- Highly accurate weather reports
- Daily forecasts for 7 days.

Yarn is an app that lets you “watch” other people’s text messages. Well, kind of. The premise of the app is to let you think you’re reading someone else’s text messages. Maybe it’s a hypothetical conversation between two of your favorite celebs?
Games
There were three different games on this list. But, like I mentioned a lot of these games are that addictive kind that you don’t need in your life. Or that I don’t need in my life, at least. Be careful with these, but have fun at the same time.
Bubble Witch Saga
Help Luna, Selma, and Hazel free the land of dark spirits in this enchanting bubble shooter game. Each level will bewitch you as you strive to get as many bubbles as possible into the cauldrons.
Magic Tiles 3
Magic Tiles 3 is one of the most popular piano games with more than 17 million players around the world. Essentially you are playing the piano with your phone screen. What’s unique about this version is that it allows you to combine other instruments in with the piano play. Including guitar and drum. I play a different version of this game, and I find it kind of soothing, to be honest.
CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars
In this game, you can build your own battle bot and unleash its power. From the creators of the popular games: Cut the Rope and King of Thieves, comes the most ingenious and stylish battle bot constructor. This is a really fun game that allows you to be an engineer. You get to design, craft and improve your battle robot. The game is unique as you get to take the role of a mean street cat and fight against other players in this fast-moving game.
