Check Out All the Incredible Shows Coming to Netflix in February

If you’re anything like me, you’re definitely interested in hibernating a bit this winter.  Yes, the days are getting longer.  Yes, the weather has been relatively good considering it’s winter.  But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to lounge in my house while doing nothing.  Ok, so nothing is a stretch. But maybe you’re interested in watching TV, but you’re not sure what to watch? Check out what Netflix has in store for you in February.  You’re not going to be disappointed.

February 2nd

Coach Snoop: Season 1

I love it when celebrities do things from a humanitarian perspective.  It doesn’t have to be wide scale, but just some kind of giving back.  In my opinion, it’s a way to use your status to help make changes or elevate a cause.  Which is why I really like this show.  The series centers around Snoop Dog’s longstanding Snoop Youth Football League.  Who knew this about Snoop Dog? Probably not many of you.  To echo the point I’m trying to make, Snoop says “music gave me the power to create a football league, but football is taking me to places music could have never taken me to”.  In the trailer we get to see Snoops coaching acumen, as well as the tough love approach of one of the coaches – K-Mac.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman: George Clooney

Netflix somehow managed to lure David Letterman out of retirement to do this fun, six-part series.  When I say somehow, we all know how.  But that’s not the point.  In his first episode, Letterman interviews Barack Obama.  While I haven’t seen the show myself, I am looking forward to it, for the sheer fact that it opens with Obama.  I hear, though, that they didn’t’ discuss Donald Trump. Which is actually good news, and honestly kind of big of Obama.  Even though it would be so easy to throw some shade.  Either way, Letterman’s second guest isn’t a slouch either.  I definitely need to tune into the first one and get in on the second sometime after February 9^th.  I’ve still got time!

The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale

Does Joel McHale miss The Soup?  Regardless, we miss Joel McHale.  He did have a show, called the Great Indoors last year, but I think it only lasted one season.  It was kind of funny, but not Joel McHale caliber funny.  That said, McHale has an all-new show on Netflix, where he will take a sharp, absurdist look at pop culture and news from across the globe.  The show will include celebrity guests, comedy sketches and insane clips from the worldwide realms of TV, sports, politics (I can only imagine how many Donald Trump sketches there will be), celebrity and culture.  It sounds great.  What I love about this idea is that it’s going to be on Netflix.  Which means you can wait and binge watch if you’re too busy to watch weekly.  Or you can tune in every week.

Forgotten

Forgotten is a mystery thriller written and directed by Hang-Jun Chang who is considered to be one of the best storytellers in Korea.  While the story does take a ton of twists and turns, the movie is expected to create never ending suspense.  I like to see Netflix showcasing non-US content as there are benefits to expanding the types of media that you consume. While, I think Netflix has great original content, and they bring some in some excellent non-Netflix content, I’m also happy to see this kind of diversification.

Marlon Wayans: Woke-ish

Marlon Wayans is an incredible comedian, but this is his first comedy special.  Is that for real?  It can’t be!  And yet, it is.  Wayans hasn’t always been a stand-up comedian, but he’s kind of hilarious, so that’s why I’m having such a hard time with this. Either way, you will get to experience Marlon Wayan’s comedy prowess in this one-hour special.  I, for one, am concerned that I have to wait until the END of February.  That said, I am looking forward to it.
