Did You Miss the Super Moon? We’ve Got You Covered!

Certain parts of the world got to experience an incredible lunar eclipse as the Earth passed between the Sun and the Moon early this morning.  This is also the second full Moon of the month, which is commonly referred to as a blue moon.  The eclipse began at 10:51 GMT, and ended at 16:08 GMT.  That’s a long time, isn’t it?  The word “blood” has been used to describe the deep red color of the sunlight that passes through the Earth’s atmosphere to illuminate the Moon.

In addition, the Moon actually appears about 7% larger than the average Moon and is about 15% brighter.  There is some controversy around calling this a supermoon because the difference in the Moon’s size, may not be as dramatic as the term might make it sound.  Do people think the Moon actually got larger?  The Moon looks larger but, it’s not.  Making it the perception, rather than something tangible.  So I wonder why people are upset about referring to it as a Super Moon?  Either way, I think the images are incredible, and I wanted to share some of those with you.
