This is only my opinion, and not the representation of Saintel Daily, LLC.

Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump had a private meeting on Tuesday in Singapore.  While we don’t know exactly what was discussed, we do know that Trump had created a video for Kim on his iPad.  For the record, I envision a lot of grunting, even more sweating, and an interpreter communicating hair care techniques for the other.  I’ve been known to be wrong a time or two, so this might not have gone down this way.  That said, this video that Trump had ready for Kim was a bit weird.  I mean, Trump had created a video that kind of looked like a Hollywood movie trailer.  More specifically, it’s of the two of them and how they have come together to bring peace to the world.

This trailer, is fake, of course.  This shouldn’t be a surprise, after all, Trump only likes things that are fake.  Am I wrong? The trailer shows a world where  Trump and Kim have come together to create this peaceful world.  The video comes complete with music and even a dramatic voiceover. It even includes the words “Destiny Pictures presents..”, as if it was a real movie trailer.  I’m curious as to who came up with this idea – Donald Trump or one of his staffers?

I’d like to discuss this idea of world peace for a moment though.  I’ve kind of heard rumblings around my office about this.  Many are saying that these two are coming together to create peace.  But can you say that, when they’re the reason for the war in the first place?  Think about it this way.  Two siblings are fighting.  I mean, a full out, earth-shattering brawl.  The dust settles and you’re each in your respective corners.  You take some time and you kind of cool off.  You’re still angry, but you’re not doing anything stupid.  Now, one of you will have to make the phone call to say “we should talk”.  While I agree, this is a good thing to do, should your parents march in and hand you a trophy?  Mine wouldn’t.  I would get a slap upside the back of my head and be told to do better next time. (As would my brother.)

The point I’m trying to make is that, yes, world peace is good.  But Trump and Kim are the reason that there wasn’t going to be peace in the first place.  I mean, don’t you remember the tweets staring “little rocket man”? I’m not saying that Kim didn’t play his part, but I just feel like we shouldn’t reward bad behavior in the first place.

Here’s my favorite part of the trailer:

What if? Can history be changed? Will the world embrace this change? And when can this moment in history begin? It comes down to a choice. On this day. In this time. At this moment. The world will be watching, listening, anticipating, hoping. Will this leader choose to advance his country and be part of a new world? Be the hero of his people? Will he shake the hand of peace and enjoy prosperity like he has never seen? A great life or more isolation? Which path will be chosen?

I gagged a little when I heard it.  Do we actually think Donald Trump is a hero because he did this?  Again, this is something that he should have done months ago.  But instead, he decided to fuel the fire with his Twitter rants.  I do like the fact that they keep saying “what if?”, because we don’t actually know what will come from this.  What if is the best way to describe this.  If you suffer from anxiety at all, they say that you shouldn’t think about the “what if’s” because it could just drive you mad with worry.  But in this case, I think we should.  Think about “what if” Donald Trump never sent those tweets in the first place.  Think about “what if” he never instigated this war, to begin with.  I think those are the “what if’s” we should focus on and certainly not portray Trump as a hero.
