In part two, we will continue to explore some really great Xbox games. What’s interesting to me is that these games don’t really get old. Sure, they’re older games, typically but they seem to be able to withstand the test of time. That’s incredibly fascinating, and something we can’t say about everything – nor every game. What this says to me is that the developers put in a lot of work in order to get the games just right.
Ori and the Blind Forest
Ori and the Blind Forest might look cute and cuddly, but this side-scrolling adventure isn’t afraid to inflict pain on to its players. The opening minutes are absolutely heart-wrenching, but if you can survive that emotional toll (which I can’t), the resulting game is excellent. It finds the middle ground between platform action and Metroid-like adventure and exploration, and that gorgeous world and animation make it all the more inviting.
Tom Clancy’s The Division
Has it only been a year since The Division was released? If it feels longer to you, you’re not the only one. Were you one of the fans who were obsessed with the game when it came out? This game delivers engaging online “shoot and loot” action in a kind of odd setting. The game takes place in New York City after an outbreak of disease sends the city and the country into chaos. You will get lost in this game thanks to the exciting combat, deep role-playing elements and a ton of content.
Life is Strange
Life is Strange itself isn’t exactly strange, but it isn’t exactly common either. It’s a five-part episodic adventure, which is pretty low key. It highlights the journey of a teen girl and her troubled friend. The decisions you make along the way will affect that relationship, as well as others and ultimately determine the fate of the people around her. That definitely sounds like a big responsibility. In addition, the character can manipulate time. Which is what definitely makes the game a bit strange, but it works in this case as you can go back and try to correct any missteps.
Time, as we know, can be a tricky thing. You will come across some surprises along the way, and some incredibly emotional moments.
Sunset Overdrive
This game doesn’t feel quite as expansive as open-world shooters like Far Cry, but it is packed with a ton of personality as you try to clear a city full of mutants who are filled with energy drinks. This game is incredibly ridiculous, but it’s what you expect from the creators of Ratchet & Clank. You will wield some pretty incredible weapons, as you grind on the city’s vast system of rails and vault over nearly anything in sight.
Halo 5: Guardians
You’re going to have to wait a while before the next Halo game arrives, so what will you do in the meantime? Why not try Halo 5: Guardians. Or try it again if you’ve played it before. In the game, you will save the human race from the bring once again as either Master Chief or the leader of Fire team Osiris, Spartan Locke. This is kind of an addictive game, especially with the online multiplayer functionality. There are new maps and all kinds of skins for you and your friends to try out.
