You can now get a little box that supports 4K on two screens. The new Raspberry Pi 4 B supports up to 4GB of RAM and yes, dual 4K displays. The tiny board still starts at friendly $35, making it a must-have purchase for any techie. The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B gives you “a complete desktop” experience.” without any compromise in a small footprint.

The specs of the Raspberry Pi 4 B are out of its class. They should be on a computer that cost 100’s of times more but lucky for us it’s not. The specs are as follows; a 1.5GHz quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 CPU. That is a full 3x performance bump from last generations Raspberry Pi . The RAM has gotten an upgrade to 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The rest of the specs include VideoCore VI graphics with support for OpenGL ES 3.x, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, USB-C, dual-band 802.11ac wireless support, Bluetooth 5, dual 4K monitor support (via micro HDMI connectors), 4Kp60 hardware decode of HEVC video, and Gigabit Ethernet all in a small little box.

“Whether you’re editing documents, browsing the web with a bunch of tabs open, juggling spreadsheets or drafting a presentation, you’ll find the experience smooth and very recognizable — but on a smaller, more energy-efficient and much more cost-effective machine.”

The Raspberry Foundation the company says.

Before you get too excited; full discloser. You only get the 1GB of RAM version for $35. You will have to shell out $10 extra each time you double the memory. To fully get maxed out version of the Raspberry Pi 4 B you will have to spend $55. While the Raspberry Pi 4 B does work with pretty much anything there are of course new Raspberry Pi 4 specific accessories. There is a new case that matches the new arrangement of the new ports and a new USB-C power supply. To add these two to your setup it will cost you an extra $5 each.

If you really want to just plug and play or get a great gift for a young STEM student. I would recommend the desktop Kit. Yes, it is priced at $120 but it also contains an official mouse and keyboard, a pair of HDMI cables, an updated Beginner’s Guide, and a pre-installed 32GB microSD card.
