Apple TV+ with new original content has finally launched. Apple said they are thrilled” with the initial reception to the lineup of its four main shows. I assume they are since a lot of people had free subscriptions. If you are ready to try out the service for free here is how you do it. If you have a discounted Apple Music student plan,  Apple TV+ is already free for you. So it will just be unlocked. If you are not a student, your first step is to buy a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV. Notice it does not say anything about AppleWatch.

If you’re not seeing the free year offer and double-check that you’re signed in with your Apple ID. If you use Family Sharing, make sure the family organizer is the one that claims the subscription. Family sharing for Apple TV+ is automatically turned on after the family organizer signs up.

Here are the Steps to get Apple TV+ for free

  1. Open the TV app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV (running the latest software)
  2. Tap or click on a new Apple original like The Morning Show or SEE
  3. Choose Enjoy 1 Year Free (7-day free trial for those who haven’t purchased a new device)
  4. Tap or Click Continue, then Confirm the free year
  5. Alternately, head to tv.apple.com on a Mac or PC, sign in in the top right corner, then activate your free trial

It has been reported that viewers who watched one episode of the big four titles came back to watch more in the season. This is great but Apple has not reported how many ‘real’ sign-ups they have versus customers taking on free trial offers. Those that were on seven day free trials start the 1st month of their subscription will have been charged today. We will see if Apple is a real success depending on how many people return to watch the just-released episode 4 instalments.

Apple fully expects people to come back. They have already officially renewed For All Mankind, See and Dickinson for second seasons. Even though The Morning Show has gotten horrible reviews it was already ordered for two seasons upfront. The rest of the shows coming to the platforms are Servant on November 28, Truth Be Told and Hala on December 6. That is all for now but Apple has 30 TV projects in development and promised new originals on a monthly basis.
