London’s Tottenham Court Road is known for great shopping. They are known for having one of the biggest computer stores in the world. The PC World superstore located at Currys flagship store has pretty much every computer need you can think of. Now they have one more thing. The Chrome Zone is Google’s shop-within-a-shop geared at selling Chrome; Chromebooks to be specific.

Have you seen the set up that Apple has at Best Buy stores? Well its like that but a lot more google-like. Bright colors are everywhere in this location. The primary goal of the store is to explain the cloud OS notebooks to the public. Good luck with that Google. I was one of the first to get the CR-48 to test out from Google. While it was a great Netbook. It’s limited functions left much to be desired. Chrome OS has been updated but it still feels more like a great tablet operating system than one fit for a Netbook. Samsung Chromebook are the only products for sale since Acer is yet to come out to the public.

Arvind Desikan, head of consumer marketing for Google in the UK and Ireland said “We’ve put a great deal of thought into the design of this Chrome Zone.”

Mark Slater, category director at Dixons Retail, said: “Initial customer response to the launch of Samsung’s Chromebook has been excellent and we are expecting a lot of customer interest and excitement now it is in-store.

It should be interesting to see does this experiment come over to the States anytime soon. I’m going to save you the time of wondering. It’s not. It’s a known fact companies take more liberties over seas than in the States. Google is testing out what works and once perfected will indeed bring it to the USA but not with limited products. Americans love options to choose from.
