yotaphone-2-5

There are a lot of cool phones coming out of the Mobile World Conference and none has more wow factor than the YotaPhone 2. The phone features a bright 5″ AMOLED 1080p display. Under the hood the YotaPhone 2 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. For you selfie takers it comes with a 8-megapixel camera. The extra bang for your buck includes wireless charging support, 2550mAh battery and NFC.

While those specs are impressive, that is not enough to set the YotaPhone 2 apart from the other Kitkat running Android phones out there. Then you take a 2nd look at the phone and notice something. Your notifications are on this easy to read e-ink display. What’s more, without turning on the phone you are able to respond to those notifications. Write out full emails and send text right from the e-ink display. Right now that is all you can pretty much do but Yota Devices promised that apps are under development that will take advantage of the e-ink display on the back. The e-ink helps the phone get over 50 hours of battery life.

Yota Devices CEO Vlad Martynov said:

The future of smartphones is always-on displays allowing users without turning off the real world and disrupting the people around you. The next generation YotaPhone takes this totally innovative concept in smartphones and makes it even better. Now, with two full-touch displays, the next generation YotaPhone is twice as smart, twice as useful and twice as beautiful.

The YotaPhone 2 will be available in the fourth quarter of the year in Europe. The U.S. and Asian will have to wait for a bit longer. No price has been set for this little gem just yet. The full press release is below.
