Sony’s The Last of Us is one of the main reasons that I am still in love with the PlayStation 3. A few people argue that the game is a ripoff of The Walking Dead game. The game is being turned into a movie with help from none other than the game’s creators.

NAUGHTY DOG CO-PRESIDENT Said:

“Since our game released last June, we’ve talked with many companies about making a film, but we couldn’t have found better partners who share our creative vision and high standards.”

Screen Gems a very well respected film company has signed on to distribute The Last Of Us. Which means the live-action adaptation of the PlayStation 3 game should have pretty good quality. Naughty Dog is one of the few studios out there that continue to turn out quality rather than quantity. They will we working on the project as well. They will be hands on with the project from start to finish.

Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper said:

“I am thrilled that SCEA’s Riley Russell was able to get me in front of Neil and Evan Wells to plead my case. Sam and his team at Ghost House round out the perfect team to help realize Neil’s vision.”

The Creative Director for the game Neil Druckmann will write the script. The other minds working on this project are Evan Wells, Christophe Balestra, Bruce Straley and Sam Raimi. If you never played the game, here is the Cliff Notes version. Hardened survivor Joel teams with young and capable companion Ellie to journey through a radically transformed world some 20 years after an infectious pandemic ravages humanity. The game is one a must have if you have a PS3. If you do not have a PS3 find one somewhere and play it. The game has won a ridiculous amount of well deserved awards. One hopes the movie is half as good.
