WWDC14

This year Apple should wow us at WWDC. I mean 2014 is almost over. Ok, I’m reaching but come on. It’s at least half way over. What happen to that Apple wow factor? No wonder they went out of their way to the tune of $3 billion to bring Dr. Dre. into the fold. Maybe the Dr. can help get them their cool factor.

This year’s WorldWide Developer Conference is important for a few reasons for Apple. CEO Tim Cook has said that we would get new products in 2014. Not just new updates or revisions to old products but bonafide new product segments. That said, WWDC will of course focus iOS 8. However, this is not the venue where Apple will show off its new toys. Apple will launch new products later this year right before school starts or right before the holiday season. Don’t worry, there will still be lots of things to talk about at the WWDC.

Here is a rundown of what to expect:
  • Apple will unveil iOS 8.
  • Healthbook app
  • A standalone iTunes Radio app [maybe with Beats?]
  • Shazam for Siri
  • New OSX
  • New Safari
Here is a rundown of what might be there:
  • iPad split screen [I say maybe on this one]
  • Apple smart home platform
  • MacBook Air with Retina
  • Mac mini
  • New Apple TV
What Not to Expect:
  • A real Apple TV
  • New iPhone
  • Did I already say iPhone? Well that goes for a phablet too
  • New iPad Air
  • New iPad mini with Retina Display.
  • iWatch.
  • New iMac

This is not the Apple old. Tim Cook is the man in charge now. He does things a little different. There won’t be any surprises or a “one more thing” to look forward to. You are going to hear about iOS 8 and the new OSX. That’s it but that is enough to hold us sheep over. At least until the next big event. Then again, who would have thought Apple would have brought Beats for $3 billion? We can all find out what is in store next at WWDC 2014 1:00 p.m. EDT / 10:00 a.m. PDT on Monday.
