Dell who was once one of the strongest technology company in the world has agreed to buy EMC for $67 billion or $24.05 per share. Some of the companies EMC owns are security firm RSA and virtualization solution VMware. VMware will remain an independent publicly traded entity and will not join Dell. Even without VMware, EMC is still worth twice as much as Dell. Michael Dell’s investment firm MSD Capital and Silver financing the deal.
The deal is the largest technology acquisition in history. Silver Lake was also the company that helped Michael Dell take his company private in 2013. Assuming that the deal makes it through the red tape of regulatory hurdles, Dell will be a company to reckoned with in the enterprise space.
