If you’re super keen to get your new iPhone X, and I’m not judging if you are, you can now track its progress as it makes its way towards you. UPS will provide tracking information for you, but FlightAware will actually let you track your phone in real time, in the air. Kind of in the way you track your boyfriend’s flight when he’s coming for a visit. Is this creepy? Maybe a little bit, but it’s hard to control your excitement when you’re waiting for that special something to arrive.
Once your iPhone X is shown as despatched, you’ll get a UPS tracking number. From there you can check the exact time of the departure scan, which should also be the departure time of the flight where your phone is traveling on. This is kind of neat, don’t you think? I mean, when you track something, you can only tell when it gets checked into a sorting facility. I recently ordered something from Amazon, and it was coming quite a distance. I could track it when it arrived in certain “hubs”, but beyond that, I had no idea where it was going or when it was going to arrive. Well, I had an idea of when it was going to arrive because Amazon promised arrival by a certain date. But you get where I’m going with this.
If you’ve purchased an iPhone X and you want to see where it is, go to the Flight Aware website and type in the information you have. You can click on the flight number and FlightAware will show you exactly where your aircraft is, along with its actual expected arrival time. If the flight hasn’t departed yet, the information shown will be the flight’s scheduled departure and arrival time.
The data on the phone is accurate and live, despite it referring to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. Some customers were happy to see improvements on their pre-orders as the original delivery dates were weeks away. Apple appears to be ramping up supply a little faster than expected. Which is good to see as it sounded like it could be months before some people got their iPhone X’s.
Apple said that the demand is off the charts. Which means, if you haven’t seen a delivery date for your phone, you can try your luck at an Apple Store on Friday. The company says that stores will have some in stock, but that you’ll need to get there super early. And we mean super early, as in the night before. Which is crazy right? I mean, it’s a cool phone and all, but I haven’t ever stood in line for anything like that, in my life. At least not for that long. If you are standing in line for that long, I wish you the best of luck. I honestly do. Then tell us about your experience and if you managed to get one of the phones. For the rest of you, I hope you get yours delivered sooner than later.
