Here’s How You Can Win Money in the iPhone Game HQ Trivia

Have you heard of this new trivia app where you can win actual real money?  If not, you need to head over to the App Store and download it immediately.  Why?  Because you can win real money!  The catch? (Becuase there is always a catch) You have to answer all of the questions right.  Which is proving very difficult for me.  I’m literally struggling to make it past question four.  Which is extremely frustrating.  That being said, if you think you’re great at Trivia, then this is the game for you.  In HQ Trivia, you’re competing with players all across the globe. There are two rounds every weekday – 3 PM EST and 9 PM EST.  But how can you make it farther in the game?

1. Earn Extra Lives By Referring Friends

Like any other game, HQ Trivia has a system where you can continue playing even after you’ve got a question wrong. You can get a “life”. Right now, the only way to get a life in HQ Trivia is by inviting a friend. Once they play a game, you’ll get a new life that will automatically be used next time you die. There’s no way to pay for a life as of now (but I’m sure that option will come soon enough). The best chance you have of winning big is by making sure you have a life or two to spare every night. So invite as many friends as possible. If your friends are already playing the game, ask them to enter your referral code (from the app’s settings).

2. Disable Comments

The comments in this game are super distracting.  And they move so fast, it actually kind of made my head spin.  Disable the comments so you can focus on the trivia game.  You can do this, by swiping the comments to the right.  It’s also possible to get banned if you put a bunch of junk in the comments, so be careful.

3. Play With Smart Friends

If you already have a trivia group, play with them to increase your chances of winning. If 3-4 sharp trivia fans are helping you, there’s a much better chance of you ending up on the leaderboard. Once you win big, you can divvy up the winnings. You don’t have to do to this in person either. Just set up a video call.

4.  Wait After You’ve Lost

Don’t rage quit the app (like me), after you’ve answered a question wrong.  If you stick around, you might get a surprise in a form of a prize box.  Such as an extra life.  Also, sticking around increases your practice time.

5. Enable Notifications and Play All Games

The app will notify you when a new game is about to start. So make sure the notifications are enabled. The best strategy for winning big is to make sure you never miss a game. If you’re in the US, you can make sure you have 10 minutes free around 3 PM and 9 PM. You can move around your lunch and dinner time if it helps.  If you follow HQ Trivia on Twitter, they sometimes drop hits and prizes on there.  Whatever your strategy – good luck to you!
