The New world number one Novak Djokovic beat defending champion Rafael Nadal in four sets. It is his first Wimbledon title.

Djokovic made short work of Nadal in the opening two sets. Nadal tried to fight his way back but the match was already lost. The top seed Nadal only won the third set.

Djokovic lost only one match all year and today he showed why he is the number one player in the world. Even had he lost the match with Nadal he still would have walked away with the number one ranking on Monday regardless. Of course I’m sure he enjoyed the win too.

The pair had faced off before, Djokovic had won all four matches against Nadal this year and they were all in tournament finals. Nadal had a 20 game winning streak going on grass until this lost. The last time he lost was to Roger Federer in the 2007 final.

The Nadal lost also marks another first and ends another streak. It is the first time since 2002 that somebody other than Nadal and Federer has won the men’s singles title at Wimbledon.

I was able to catch all the action as it stream to my iPad from my SlingBox. I was even able to pause it on my TiVo at the house. I was worried that it would not work while crossing states but to my surprise the AT&T network held up.
