The BET Awards are today at 5PM this evening. That is 8PM for those on the East. Don’t worry there is no stabbings, shootings or any other acts of violence at this years award show. Don’t believe the hype that some sites (looking at you Reuters & TMZ) and newspapers (Looking at you LA Times) are posting to get page hits. In the case of with all these publications the headlines are nothing more than simple bait and switch tactics. If you read the article expecting the content to match the headline you are sure to be very disappointed. The only factual thing related to the official award show is “The 14th BET Awards take place at 5 p.m. at the Nokia Theatre and will be hosted by Chris Rock.”

BET Awards Stabbing During Pre-Party Inside Hollywood Nightclub ~ TMZ STAFF
The BET Awards is one of music’s best nights of the year. This is the classy award show of the network. Why is then that any party or event that is not all associated with the network goes wrong? I mean when there is a MTV Award or CMT Award show the unofficial party does not make a blimp on the newswire. Ponder on that while we move on. The BET Awards tonight will honor some of the most talented hip-hop, rap and R&B artists out today.

The BET Awards is also the crown jewel of the BET Experience. This the 2nd year of BET Experience and continues to expand on some great events for the fans. The BET Experience took over L.A. Live for the weekend. The BET Experience this year had concerts by Maxwell, Jill Scott, Future, DJ Khaled, Outkast, Rick Ross and The Roots to name a few. If that was not enough each one of the headlines had a multitude of guest artist. Mary J. Blige will end the BET Experience tonight with a final concert after the BET Awards. The educational forums, celebrity panels, celebrity basketball game and live 106 & Park countdown also keep the fans entertained.
The always funny Chris Rock will host the BET Awards. We know he will put on not a good show. He will put on an epic show and keep the audience engaged and entertained throughout the event. Alright time to my seats. Enjoy the show. What is that? You can’t make it to the show? Watch it live on BET at 5PM if you live in the west and 8PM if you live in the east. You can also follow all the highlights of the show head over to BET.com and for up to the minute on updates head over to one of the many BET twitter accounts.
