If you haven’t heard, 20th Century Fox has released a brand new trailer for the Deadpool sequel.  They had previously released a trailer back in February, but this one gives us a little bit more information about the cast and characters.  What is the movie about exactly?  Here is the official synopsis for Deadpool 2:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Note – the trailer does contain profanity.

Starring James Brolin, as Cable, he is intent on pushing aside Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, in order to acquire his target.  The trailer is extremely well done and also hilarious.  It cues up L.L Cool J and even references the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.  If you’re not familiar, that movie stars Reynold’s wife (in real life), Blake Lively.

The movie sees Deadpool assembling his X-Force, which is his black-ops squad that he refers to as “tough, morally flexible and young enough to carry their own franchise for 10 to 12 years”.  So does that mean we’ll see a spin-off?  Fingers crossed.  One character, Merc with a Mouth, pays homage to Xavier’s metallic wheelchair, so it looks like there are more than one X-Men references in this movie.  Used in the right way, this kind of reference can make a movie endearing, doesn’t it?

The movie also stars:

  • Morena Baccarin, as Vanessa
  • TJ Miller, as Weasel
  • Brianna Hildebrand, as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
  • Karan Soni, as Dopinder; and,
  • Leslie Uggams as Blind Al

Deadpool 2 doesn’t open until May 18, so you still have some time to wait.  That said, this trailer makes me wish it was coming out sooner.
