How to Pre-order Apple’s new iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus

How to Pre-order Apple’s new iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus

Sprint’s new iPhone 6s upgrade plan is the cheapest. You trade your smartphones and get a new iPhone 6s for just $15 per month.

Only a few hours left until the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus pre-order. How to get it is going to take some work. Are you going to get it online or the store? You can’t have the phone in your hands until September 25 but until then you’ll be able to pre-order it at 12:01 a.m. PT / 3:01 a.m. ET this Saturday, September 12. Here are all the ways you can place a reservation. You can pre-check your eligibility right on Apple’s company’s website. It then stores this information for pre-ordering time. Do you want the iPhone mailed to you or fight the crowd in the morning. The fastest way to order online is to use the The Apple Store app.

With the Apple Store App there is no stalling. I would avoid using the website. This is the best method because it is fast, easy to use and you can even use Apple Pay. Ironically you will be using your old iPhone to buy your new iPhone.  If you don’t already have the app. You can download it now. However if you no choice but to use the website make sure you have the order page up and ready to go. You can review all the carrier financing options and Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Plan via the Apple website.… Read the rest

Verizon’s LTE has speeds of 80 Mbps

Verizon’s LTE has speeds of 80 Mbps

verizonLTE80

How would you like FIOS speed while in the park? Some lucky folks who have Verizon LTE phones are enjoying just that. Verizon has confirmed faster LTE over AWS frequencies to PhoneScoop.  Major markets LA & NYC have new Band 4 spectrum to play with. The new spectrum will help Verizon boost bandwidth and improve reliability. GigaOM reader Milan Milanovic has pulled down 80 Mbps on the new waves while in Midtown Manhattan, with uploads hovering around 15 Mbps. I look forward to Sprint and others to getting this speed in 2032.

Update: Verizon had this statement about on LTE over AWS, compatible devices and software updates:

As our customers’ wireless data usage continues to grow, AWS spectrum is being deployed to ensure the continued consistent reliability and capacity of our 4G LTE network. Verizon Wireless has begun activating 4G LTE service on its AWS spectrum in many of our major markets across the US. A limited number of devices are AWS capable at this time. We plan to push a software upgrade to other AWS-capable devices in the near future.

Verizon Messages is not just another iMessage or WhatsApp clone

Verizon Messages is not just another iMessage or WhatsApp clone

VZWmesenger

Does iMessage and WhatsApp have competition? Verizon has a new cross-platform text messaging app for Android and iOS devices. Is this news to you? Well this is the 4th update to the app.  The application is similar to Google Voice as it lets you send and receive a text message from a PC, smartphone or tablet. The thing that might give you reservations is the text are stored on Verizon’s cloud for up to 90 days. Unlike services from WhatsApp and iMessage, the application uses a smartphone’s phone number instead of a username. Although Verizon Messages has a leg up on other text messaging apps; it is still not better than Google Voice.  You can get the same features from Google Voice and a host of other text apps out there but if you’re on Verizon Wireless and want to give it a try, Verizon’s Messages application is available now in Google Play and the iOS App Store. Check out the cheerful demo below.

This February 3rd the National Football League will be live streaming Super Bowl XLVII on CBS. Last year the steaming event on NBC had around 2.1 million unique viewers. We wonder if the numbers for the upcoming Super Bowl XLVII to handled by CBS instead of NBC will get more visitors.  Also how is mobile going to be handled. We know that Verizon subscribers can watch it on their smartphone via the the NFL Mobile app but what about everyone else? Will CBS Sports app stream the game on the iOS?  Side note: The NFL’s own website will also stream the big game.

Sprint has a successful LTE launch year with 49 markets now live

SprintLTE

Sprint seems to always come late to the party but when it does people notice. It first launched this past summer. Now Sprint LTE is live in 49 markets. That is a big jump in just over six months. They are still planning on several new launches for early 2013. Sprint says it plans to be in 150 new LTE launches in a  months. We have no idea what the time line really is. Here is hoping that they cover the whole east coast by at least May.  Sprint is the number 3 carrier in the USA. If it can get to 150 markets and keep the all you can eat pricing it has in place; that would help it fight rivals Verizon and AT&T.Read the rest

PRESS RELEASE

Anniversaries are marked in different ways: some are more subdued and call for reflection, while others are joyous celebrations. On Wednesday, Dec. 5, wireless users may not pause to celebrate that it has been two years since the launch of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network, yet every day they experience how it has transformed their lives.

4G LTE wireless networks mean that what was once considered only in the realm of desktop computers – or someone’s imagination – is now seamlessly mobile. Video is now available from anywhere with mobile streaming. Whether it’s watching user-generated clips, favorite entertainment programs or video chatting with friends and family, the growth of 4G LTE has changed the way we watch and share video. Games can support better graphics and multiplayer options over 4G LTE, and users can take advantage of smart accessories like the Helo TC Touch Controlled Helicopter, a helicopter controlled through a smartphone application.

Conducting business as well from a smartphone or tablet, or using a mobile hotspot to connect other devices to a Wi-Fi connection, is increasingly common as entrepreneurs, real estate agents and traveling healthcare professionals can stay in touch with clients and the home office from anywhere.Read the rest

3 Things You didn’t know about the Apple iPhone 5

3 Things You didn’t know about the Apple iPhone 5

Microsoft unveiled Xbox SmartGlas at 3E this past summer. It was hyped as a new vision for enjoying entertainment at home.  Xbox SmartGlass is an app for Windows 8, Windows Phone, Android, iOS, PCs and tablets that connects to your Xbox 360. What it does is make your more interactive.  One of the games that was showed off was Madden. The EA Sports rep posed a question “What if you could use your tablet to draw up a play in Madden NFL and then perform it to perfection on your TV?” With SmartGlass you will be able to do just that. To be fair. WiiU is betting that you will do this over and over again. However I bet you didn’t know you can already do this with some iOS games such as MetalStorm pictured below.

I am constant defender off almost all things Apple. (Sorry, MacBook Air cost just too much compared to a Ultra Book) Is the Galaxy S III a better phone than the iPhone 5? If you just go by specs, than yes. However if you use both you will be pro Apple iPhone. It is not about what is on paper it is about the whole experience. I had a friend text me and ask how to make folders. I explain how to do it. They texted me back asking; How does it know the name I wanted to give the folder? That is the staple of Apple.… Read the rest
