ipad pro

“Today we have the biggest news in iPad since the iPad,”~ Apple CEO Tim Cook. He meant it. iPad Pro the biggest iPad yet. It is like two iPad Air 2s put together in the size of an iPad one.

The new iPad Pro comes in weighing at a whopping 1.57-pounds or 78% bigger than the iPad Air 2. That is the same as the original iPad -weighed but at 6.1mm its almost as slim as the  iPad Air 2. Although the screen is 12.9-inch Apple said you can handle it with just one hand. I don’t see that happening with a screen that size. Frankly with 2,732×2,048-pixel resolution Retina display one wonders what is the point of getting an Apple MacAir. The tablet feels more like a laptop especially when you are viewing two apps side-by-side. The iPad Pro comes with the A9x chip that 1.9 times faster than its little brother the A9 chip found in the iPhone 6s. That extra power is used to give the iPad Pro graphics performance that is faster than 80% of portable PCs. That is according to Apple. We will see how realistic this claim is later in November when the iPad Pro comes out. Apple also says it’s so big the on-screen keyboard is “full-sized,” like on its laptops. Apple includes four speakers up front that can determine where to send sound based on how your are holding the iPad Pro. Surprisingly Apple didn’t add Beats Audio to the iPad Pro. Nevertheless this high-def mobile movie machine will be great on trips but horrible for anyone sitting around you.

The iPad Pro will start at $799 for a 32GB WiFi model. The 128GB WiFi model will cost $949 and the wh LTE 128GB model costs $1,079. Yes, that is more than a 13 inch MacAir. I understand Apple products come in at a premium but when you add the price of the non included new accessories, its a bit much. The thing that everyone will be talking about is how this was not Steve Job’s Apple anymore. Not only was Microsoft and Adobe there but we also got a stylus.

“It’s like we said on the iPad, if you see a stylus, they blew it.”Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder

The Apple stylus is called the Pencil. It is able to detect position, force and tilt. Only time will tell if it works well for drawing, annotating and other stuff pens are used for. It charges from the iPad’s Lightning port.  Apple also welcomed the world to Smart Keyboard for $169. The keyboard is also a case for the iPad Pro. So basically it turns your iPad Pro into a Surface Pro. Apple was joined onstage by Microsoft & Adobe. Oh, yeah the iPad Pro also gives you 10 hours of battery life.
