iPad2: The Facts Vs. Rumors

Let’s get the Rumors out of the way 1st

• The iPad2 will have a retina display.

No it will not for the simple fact that Apple does not want to put in there. It will have a pretty display but                it will not be Retina. It may have a new name though. Maybe Magic Retina.

• 1080p Video

Apple is not one to follow anyone. They wait for the tech to get where they want it then they make it easy                to use. Jobs said it already 720p is good enough and he meant it.

• SD Card slot

Apple using a SD card which is tech that is on its way out is not going to happen.  If anything they would                  use in microSD cards.  They are smaller.

• Dual GSM/CDMA

This one is a toss-up. This can go either way and we won’t know more until later. It would be good but it is                 really not needed. For all we know Apple might just go Wi-Fi only.

• Multicore processor
  

This is an option but to do that you would have to have more power. Have you seen the inside of iPad as it               is now? The thing is all battery already. To add more batteries would increase  size and weight. Jobs is not               going to do that.  Unless they get smaller power source or have the A5 take up less power.

• Verizon gets it too

Yes they do just not at the same time as AT&T. If they did then Apple would have to make two devices or                use a  Dual GSM/CDMA chip.  Apple is not a big fan of options so I don’t see Dual chips happening thus no               Verizon iPad2 at launch.

Now the Facts:

• Better Display

According to Engadget, iPad 2 will come with a “super high resolution” screen like iPhone 4’s gorgeous                    retina display. As I said better screen but not Retina.

• More RAM

The iPhone 4 has more ram than my iPad. It is a shame and Apple will take care of that. The only this is                     how much of an update will we get.  The Galaxy S had 512. I am sure Apple will at least match that.  The                     Galaxy S2 specs have been leaked and it will have 1GB RAM/4GB ROM. Now I like the sound of that even                  better. Make it happen Apple.

• Faster processor

This is going to happen dual core is still a maybe but at least you know the performance will be                     upgraded.

• Camera

This is a given the only question that really remains is if it will be 5MP or 8MP.  The iPad2 will have                              cameras on the front as well as the back of the device. Facetime will be in the first commercials.

There you have it. The facts an rumors of what is happening with the iPad2. The closer we get to the annual Apple Event we will have more and more leaks. But for now the facts are the facts.
