It’s not just sports fanatics who are watching the Super Bowl these days.  Now, more and more people are tuning in to see what kinds of commercials they will have. In last night’s Super Bowl, both the gameplay and the commercials were kind of incredible.  The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots 41-33.  The entire city of Philadelphia erupted in celebration following the game last night.  But, like I said, that’s not the only reason that people tune in anymore.  Especially at a time when the same teams seem to show up in the finals year after year.  Don’t get me wrong, the Patriots are good, but it’s nice to see a team beat them for once. I’ve likely offended some Pats fans, but I hope I can make up for it with my list of the top 10 Super Bowl Commercials.

Technically, I’ve listed 13, but that’s because I couldn’t choose between the three Tide commercials.  I count them as one, for the purposes of this list.

10. Hope Detector – Hyundai

Ok, so maybe not your typical Super Bowl commercial, but it definitely was heartwarming and it struck a nerve with me.  I can be a softie at times, so I love to see when our real-world actions make a difference in other people’s lives.

9. Dundee Super Bowl – Tourism Australia

Oh, Danny McBride.  He’s one of those people that I love to hate.  But I can’t stop watching him.  At first, you think this is a Crocodile Dundee movie until McBride realizes that it’s a tourism advertisement for Australia.  If this doesn’t make you want to go to Australia, I’m not sure what will.

8. This is Getting Old – E*Trade

I really don’t have much to say about this one, other than it’s super cute.  Although, I could go on a lengthy diatribe about people not having enough money for retirement, but this is a light-hearted article today so I won’t.

7. Human – M&M’s

If anyone can pull off being a human M&M, it’s Danny Devito.  The “eat me” reference is a bit much for my liking, but overall this is a really cute and funny ad.

6. Good Odds – Toyota

What’s with car companies giving us these heartwarming (or maybe sad) commercials?  This is an incredibly inspiring advertisement that is sure to give you a push to find your possible.

5. Stand By You – Budweiser

Guys, it’s beer.  Or is it?  When the commercial first opens, one assumes (or at least I did) that Budweiser was showing an advertisement of their beer.  But instead, it demonstrates what Budweiser did to help with disaster relief in Texas, Puerto Rico and Florida.  Good job, Budweiser.

4. Tide Super Bowl Ads

I mean, these are effective ads, but they’re not that funny.  I might even argue that they’re a bit annoying. Although, the Old Spice guy making a cameo is really fun.  I did laugh at the one where he looks at a horse and says “beautiful, like a Tide ad”.  Maybe I’m being too harsh on Tide as they are getting their message across.

3. Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman – Doritos Blaze vs. Mountain Dew Ice

I mean, there isn’t really anything I can say about this as you have to watch it to enjoy its full experience.  My favorite part is when I see Morgan Freeman lip sync “holla”.

2. Future Touchdown Celebrations – NFL

Who doesn’t love watching two men recreate the Dirty Dancing dance with Baby and Patrick Swayze?  No one.  No one ever.

  1. Alexa Loses Her Voice – Amazon

This made me laugh so hard.  Can you fathom Alexa not being able to speak?  What would we do if Alexa did lose her voice? Thankfully we only have to think about this by watching this hilarious advertisement.  Is Jeff Bezos an actor?  Someone should sign him, because he does a really good (and surprising) job.
