One of my all-time favorite things to do is watch movie trailers.  I know that sounds kind of weird, but it’s just something about the anticipation that makes me incredibly happy.  I have a hard time getting into movies, so maybe this is my way of connecting with the cinema.  Of course, this past week brought us some incredible movie trailers, so please check them out.

A Quiet Place

If you’ve read any of my other posts about movies, you will know that I’m not a big fan of horror or even remotely scary movies, so this isn’t my favorite in the list.  But I still did enjoy the trailer.  The movie stars Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.  They are a family who has survived some kind of horrible event, but they don’t make any noise.  Until one of the kids does, and that’s when it begins. The tagline of the movie is “if they hear you, they will hunt you”. In theaters April 6.

Gringo

Gringo stars Charlize Theron and David Oyelowo in this dark comedy.  The movie sends Oyelowo’s character across the border into Mexico where he gets kidnapped by some drug lords. This movie definitely takes a humorous look at the underground world of drug smuggling.  In theaters March 9.

Incredibles 2

One of my favorite things about animated TV shows and movies is when I recognize the voices of some of the characters. There isn’t really a lot to say about this movie, other than it’s a sequel to the first movie and it’s about a family of superheroes.  This is a cute movie that you should definitely check out on June 15.

Mary Magdalene

This isn’t exactly the most exciting movie, but it does give you a look into the life of Jesus, and more specifically the women in his life.  You don’t have to be religious to enjoy this movie, as you can look at it from a historical context.  That said, I am really digging Joaquin Phoenix as Jesus.  In theaters March 16.

Overboard

Overboard is a comedy about a wealthy yacht owner who is thrown overboard by his crew, and then forgets who he was before the accident.  What makes it a great comedy is that Anna Faris uses his amnesia against him in an attempt to get her revenge.

Pacific Rim: Uprising

Pacific Rim 2 hardly needs more introductions. It’s going to be an action-packed flick about giant human-operated robots that are fighting giant sea monsters. This might be a lot like the original, but Uprising stars John Boyega and Scott Eastwood. You’ll have to check it out and see if its a carbon copy, or has some original qualities of its own.

Rampage

Rampage is a film about genetically altered beasts that cause havoc in urban settings.  Dwayne Johnson stars in the leading role and yes, that is one crazy looking wolf.  In theaters April 20.

Ready Player One

Ready Player One is a Steven Spielberg movie you should have on your radar this year. It’s a plausible story about the future of an overpopulated Earth, where alternative reality experiences are a pretty common entertainment solution. Not to mention they’re a lot more sophisticated than anything available from AR and VR platforms right now.

Uncle Drew

Staring Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O’Neal and Tiffany Haddish, this movie is about whether or not aging basketball stars can still play the game.  If you are a fan of comedy or of basketball, then you’re going to want to check out this movie for sure.  The trailer says it all.  In theaters June 29.
