Snapchat is growing up from its sexting start. The apps Discover service already has power player content makers like CNN and ESPN. Now we have word that Sky News and Sky Sports will be joining the platform. Sky News and Sky Sports will publish content every afternoon specifically for the Snapchat app. The Snapchat edition sports and news will only be a few seconds long. The bite size editions also disappear after 24 hours.

“We are huge fans of Sky News and Sky Sports and are grateful for the opportunity to partner with their outstanding team.” ~Snapchat chief executive Evan Spiegel

Snapchat could have something here. The app has a rumored  200 million users most of them under 20. The app has the tweens and teens on lock. Adding the Discover service with relevant content is great way to gain a new revenue stream and expose the app to a new demographic.

“Our partnership with Snapchat is very exciting. We can reach a whole new audience hungry for news in a concise and creative form on a platform they already enjoy.” John McAndrew, Director of News Output for Sky News
