Ward’s poor fiancée was in the control room and saw the shooting live as it happened. The shooter 41-year-old Vester Lee Flanagan who himself is a former employee of the station. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Franklin County police. Vester Lee Flanagan who previously went by the name of Bryce Williams abandoned his car near the Roanoke airport.
