The Department of Defense will soon require contractors to report major cybersecurity breaches. We are as surprised as you are that they didn’t.
The US government officials and their data have been as of late has had some bad days. Over 22 million government personnel had their sensitive information compromised. Security clearances, 5.6 million sets of fingerprints all compromised.Things got so bad that even the head of the Office of Personnel Management resigned. The DOD just wants to be kept in the loop of what is going on. Contractors used to have a voluntary system to report breaches. Now contractors must report cyber incidents that result in an actual or potentially adverse effect on a covered contractor information system or covered defense information residing therein, or on a contractor’s ability to provide operationally critical support.
