Is Rogue One The Tokyo Drift of the Star Wars Story?

Disney knows how to pimp out a franchise almost as well as the folks behind Fast & Furious. Rogue One is the next instalment in the Star Wars saga. This movie is not part of the planned new trilogy. It is a  quote “Star Wars Story.” Think of it as the Tokyo Drift of Star Wars rather than a direct sequel. I know that is a lot of references to another franchise but deal with it. That is where Star Wars is headed.  A new movie every one to two years. This year’s new Star Wars movie, Rogue One just released its trailer. Disney is looking to broaden the Star Wars universe but indirectly. Something I am sure they picked up from Marvel. By releasing additional stories focusing on characters related to the trilogy but not the main movies, it give them more reach to try new things. It can do this all without upsetting fans of the main Star Wars films.

Rogue One is about how the Rebels were able to get the blueprints of the Death Star. It was stolen by a these band of rebels. The movie is takes place between the third and fourth episodes of Star Wars. We know they were successful because SPOILER ALERT, Luke and the Force destroyed the Death Star in A New Hope.

Disney marking machine and merchandising will be in full swing since the movie will star a lot of new characters. Some of which are new droids and stormtroopers. What can they come up with to top BB-8? The movie will also have fan favorite  and original OG Darth Vader. The movie is set to come out in December. Check out the new video below.
