Netflix must have felt some heat with Sling TV, PlayStation Vue and the recently announced DirecTV Now. So much so that they have finally given members what they have wanted and wished for. Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos gave hints that the feature was coming while doing an interview with CNBC. Looks like that hint is now fact. Starting today users worldwide can now download content in addition to streaming. You get this wonderful feature without great any extra cost. Before you get too excited, Netflix only allowing select movies and TV shows to be downloaded for offline playback

We don’t know what Netflix content will be available but did say “many of your favorite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way.” What we do know is that the content that will be available is Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things, and The Crown. You can download using your iOS and Android device as long as you update the app. The feature works on all Netflix plans. It could not be any easier. You simply press the download button in the app. Amazon already has a download feature with Amazon Prime so Netflix isn’t the first streaming service to offer offline playback but I mean, this is Netflix. Netflix has more content than almost everyone out there. I am excited as I’m sure you are at the exciting thought of watching offline content. I can not wait to be on my next trip to give this a try where it matters. All I know is that the next time I have to get on an airplane or a train, I’m going to pre-download a ton of Parks and Recreation episodes beforehand.
