That title is not a typo. Shaquille O’Neal really did release a LaVar Ball diss track. While the beat is sic; Shaq has not has a tight flow since You Can’t Stop the Reign. The title track to his the third studio album. It was released on November 19, 1996 for Interscope Records and featured production from the likes of DJ Quik, Poke and Tone, Mobb Deep and Easy Mo Bee. The album was moderately successful, making it to #82 on the Billboard 200 and #21 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Only ywo singles were released, “You Can’t Stop the Reign” and “Strait Playin'”. The Notorious B.I.G.’s classic verse from “You Can’t Stop the Reign” was reused in Michael Jackson’s song “Unbreakable”, from his last studio album Invincible.

How did we get here though? Well to no bodies surprise LaVar Ball was making headlines about his son. However this time he brought Shaqs name into it. LaVar Ball said that he and his son LaMelo, could beat Shaq and Shaq’s son Shareef O’Neal in a game of two-on-two. Shaq never one to let an opportunity for attention go to waste dropped a diss track. Let’s put aside the fact that this a  non rapper doing a dis track for a moment. It’s not half bad. It’s like a Michael Bay movie. All action to plot lines. Shaq gives nods to his sponsors The General and Icy Hot. Take it for what it is good entertainment by a diss 45-year-old television studio analyst who at one time was the most dominant player in basketball.
