Homework is very crucial for your child. I on the other hand as child and young adult never cared much for it but as an adult I realize the need for it. Learning is a critical part of child’s development. There are four people who effect that development. Teachers,Friends, Parents and other family members are a major factors in learning for kids and adolescents. They are the ones that spend the most time with your child in that order. While at home to help increase a child’s success in school they need every tool possible. In this day and age technology has become the most prevalent tool needed for success.
My daughter had a desktop when she was three years old. She was able to use it effectively to search for kids games and play the learning programs I had installed for her. Now computers are part of children from the moment they are born. Depending how you the parent chooses to have your child use this tool will determine how effective a learning tool it becomes.
Set a regular scheduled time for homework to be done and send reminders to their Facebook, cell phone and email. The flip side of that is you too should set the same reminder for yourself. It’s not only a good way to remember to set time apart to help your child but also shows your child how important their homework is to you.
If the subject is too hard for you, there is no shame in that. Try to find a tutor. When you do help with homework always use positive reinforcement for good results. Reinforce your child with special privileges or things that motivate them.
So do the following
- Schedule: Create a schedule for them and you
- Tutor: Get a tutor for any subject you can’t get done
- Reinforce: Good results should get special privileges
