I love the simplicity of the store, and Apple has sold over 1 million app downloads in the first 24 hours, most also  agree that there’s been no killer app. With Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare headed to the store for $49.99 that might change.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has just hit the Mac App Store. Apple is featuring it in a main store banner today. To be clear, the game is the same game that has sold over 13 million copies.

If it does very well it may make developers want to add the Mac platform to their list of must-develop-for systems.  Mac gaming has always been behind both PC and console gaming. But just as we saw with the iPhone App Store, publisher focus can quickly change.

Three things work against this title.

  1. One it’s now old,
  2. Amazon, is selling the game for only $32.
  3. The game is a download of  over 6 gigabytes

Will you as an Apple Mac owner rush to download it or wait how does this effect Steam? I think that is the real issue here. With the AppStore in full swing. Will developers go to Steam or the AppStore?
