We know Apple likes to do their own thing but it seems with the Apple Watch they are playing nice. We had thought that the Apple Watch’s charging system was going to be very similar to theMagSafe found Apple’s MacBooks. However the Apple Watch plays nice with the Qi standard that is used by Android Wear. The Apple Watch is the first device by Apple to feature wireless charging. Qi is from the Chinese word meaning natural energy. Qi was created by the Wireless Power Consortium to standardize inductive electrical power transfer. The specifications allow for electricity to be transferred over distances up to 1.6 inches. One can only hope that they bring this convenient technology standard to their phone line up soon.
